Reducing the use of animals in experiments

The National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement and Reduction of Animals in Research is a scientific body set up by the UK government which aims to develop alternatives to the use of animals in experimentation and to develop ways to increase animal welfare. Mark Prescott describes how the centre operates and highlights some of its achievements.
